Nissan today debuted the revised 2013 Nissan 370Z on the floor of the 2012 Chicago Auto Show.  The new Z, which is scheduled to go on sale at Nissan dealers nationwide next June, features a number of enhancements designed to keep the legendary sports car fresh and exciting.  For 2013, the Nissan 370Z will once again be available in Coupe, Roadster and NISMO Z configurations.

The NISMO 370Z also adds a new Bose Premium Audio Package with two additional speakers and two subwoofers, premium gun metallic dark-finish 19-inch wheels, and Nissan GT-R style high-rigidity brake hoses and performance brake fluid.  The NISMO 370Z does not adopt the new front fascia/rear reflector, Euro-tuned shocks or Midnight Blue exterior color.

The updates for the new model year include:

• Refreshed front fascia with vertical LED daytime running lights
• Red reflector added to rear fascia (replaces previous black center cover)
• Revised 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels (Sport Package equipped models)
• New 18-inch wheels for 370Z Coupe
• Red-finished brake calipers (Sport Package equipped models)
• Dark-finish fuel gauge trim
• Euro-tuned shock absorbers (Sport Package equipped models)
• And two new exterior colors – Magma Red and Midnight Blue

“Since the original 1970 Z was first introduced our goal has always been to keep the design moving forward.  The changes for 2013, though subtle, go a long way in enhancing its dynamic appearance inside and out,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc.

As in 2012, the 2013 370Z Coupe and 370Z Coupe Touring will each be available with a standard 332-horsepower 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine and choice of 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed automatic transmission.   The 2013 370Z Roadster and 370Z Roadster Touring will be offered with the same engine but with the 6-speed manual offered only with the Touring model (the 7-speed automatic transmission is available with both).

The Nissan NISMO 370Z, a tuner-Z enthusiast’s dream, will once again cap off the lineup – offering racing-inspired exterior and interior styling, a specially tuned suspension and unique super-lightweight forged alloy wheels.  Its 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine is matched with an exclusive H-configured exhaust system design, muffler tuning and optimized ECM (Engine Computer Module) control – creating 350 horsepower and 276 lb-ft of torque.  Only one transmission is available, a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission with standard SynchroRev Match, which allows rev-matched heel-toe-like downshifting.

Nissan has also ensured the NV400 has enough power for all types of haulage. Featuring a new 2.3l four cylinder direct injection 16 valve turbodiesel engine, buyers have a choice of three different power versions: 100bhp, 125bhp or 150bhp. Transmission is available as automatic or six speed manual.

Conscious of the needs of heavy load vans, Nissan has invested a lot of thought into the suspension of the NV400 and has utilised Macpherson suspension on all models. Front wheel models are fitted with single leaf suspension in the rear. Single rear wheel models come with dual spring suspension and the double rear wheel models come with triple leaf suspension.

Anybody working in the haulage and delivery sector will testify to how vitally important Sat Nav has been in improving the efficiency of their services. The Nissan NV400 benefits from having Nissan Connect by TomTom fitted. The control panel utilizes a newly developed switch that employs a special filter with two-color LED lamps. Selection switches for Air Conditioning and Drive mode are easily accessible in the panel. Also available is an optional Carwings Navigation System (Digital Internal HHD) with advanced mapping update system, fastest route calculation function, built-in digital tuner with automatic signal tuning (12 SEG/ 1SEG) and an iPod®*2 compatible entertainment system. An Advanced, Fuel Efficient Drivetrain
JUKE is equipped with an improved HR15DE engine. Already known for its great performance and reliability, this latest version offers better fuel efficiency and torque at low and medium speeds. Power is rated at 84kW (114 PS) at 6,000 rpm, with max torque rated at 150N･m (15.3kgfm) at 4,000 rpm. Switching between city and highway driving is easy, with no compromise of comfort, performance or acceleration.

The engine is quipped with the world’s first mass-produced dual injector system, which has two injectors per cylinder – each with a smaller nozzle to deliver finer, more closely targeted sprays of fuel into the cylinders for more efficient atomization and complete combustion. Variable Valve Timing (CVTC) for both intake and exhaust also contribute to improved fuel economy.

JUKE also features a new Xtronic CVT design that combines the efficiency of a Continuous Variable Transmission with a new 2-speed sub-gearbox system, resulting in a 20% improvement in gear ratio over conventional CVT systems – along with better acceleration, good response and quieter operation at high speeds. In addition to the sub-gearbox, the new design utilizes smaller and lighter pulleys, a flexible lock-up damper and a more fuel-efficient oil pump to promote greater fuel efficiency. And, its improved gear ratios, smaller and lighter pulleys and reduced oil resistance give it 30% less friction than conventional CVTs.

The new JUKE will also be offered with an all-new 1.6-liter engine (MR16DDT) equipped with a compact turbo charger, which combines good fuel efficiency with the power equivalent to a 2.5-liter engine (available from this autumn). MR engine equipped models will be available in 2WD and 4WD configurations. 4WD versions feature ALL MODE 4x4i with a newly developed torque vectoring system, which applies optimal torque distribution control of the rear wheels to enhance agility and cornering feel and reduce understeer when cornering.

Platform, Body and Suspension
Based on the proven B-platform, JUKE’s layout and structure was optimized while maintaining rigidity and vehicle weight. The large wheelwells have an improved capacity, allowing for use of wide P215/55R17 sized tires. The larger tire tread provides for enhanced driving stability.

JUKE’s front suspension design is the first B-platform application to use a cradle-type subframe. The suspension mounting points utilize two key locations in the front and back for enhanced suspension rigidity. A rigid torsion beam suspension is used in the rear. The combination of high performance shock absorbers, rigid suspension and high stability helps JUKE achieve its responsive sporty driving feel and good steering control during cornering. In addition to improved ride and handling, road noise and vibration have been significantly reduced, helping provide for a quiet ride.

With just a week to go before the nation’s biggest automotive exposition opens to the public, Nissan and Infiniti officially opted to display their popular brands at the Feb. 12-21 Chicago Auto Show.

The news was met warmly by show organizers. John Phelan, 2010 Chicago Auto Show chairman said, “We’re very pleased Nissan and Infiniti have made the decision to showcase their vehicles at the nation’s most influential consumer auto event.”

“The incredible labor force at McCormick Place will be able to help coordinate and execute the additional construction, and will have it standing tall in time for our two-day media preview and 10-day public run,” added Phelan. “Both prospective and existing Nissan and Infiniti customers will be able to view the latest rolling style and technology that has made them significant forces in the automotive world.”

According industry data, Nissan registered almost 9 percent of area light car and truck sales in 2009, and local dealer projections for 2010 are optimistic.

“All of our dealers are thrilled to be participating in this remarkable show,” said Saul Rosen, owner, Rosen Nissan of Gurnee, Ill., and a former chairman of the Nissan National Dealer Advisory Board. “We’re pleased that the decision was made. This show sells cars — and that’s something everyone wants to see.”

Show-goers will have the opportunity to see the full range of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles, as well as some all new models from the two brands.  Nissan will showcase the new 2010 Nissan 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition for the first time anywhere; and Infiniti’s display includes the all-new 2011 M, which goes on sale this spring.
