The Audi RS 5 has won the “SportsCar 2010” award in the “Production Coupes” category. The Audi R8 GT and the Audi R8 Spyder 5.2 FSI took second place in their classes, while the Audi S3 Sportback and Audi RS 6 Avant came in third.

68,132 readers of “Auto Bild SportsCars” cast their votes in the poll – the eighth time it has taken place – to select the “SportsCar of the Year”. Readers had the choice of a total of 173 vehicles in 17 categories, each of which was subdivided into “Tuning” and “Production”. Continue Reading →

Audi today announced that the Q5 and A4 models earned 2010 TOP SAFETY PICK ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

For the 2010 model year and beyond, IIHS included a new rollover roof strength test.  To earn TOP SAFETY PICK recognition, a vehicle must earn the highest rating of good for roof strength in rollover crashes.  To measure roof strength, a metal plate is pushed against one corner of a vehicle’s roof at a constant speed. The maximum force sustained by the roof before 5 inches of crush is compared to the vehicle’s weight to find the strength-to-weight ratio. This is a good assessment of vehicle structural protection in rollover crashes. Continue Reading →

Audi opened its order books. Prospective buyers throughout Europe can now order the new A1 at their Audi dealer. The A1 will be available from a starting price of EUR 15,800. It will initially go on sale in two engine versions – and with a particularly extensive range of customization options.

The new model marks Audi’s first venture into the compact car segment, with the A1 aimed at a completely new target group. Over 103,000 prospective customers have already signed up to be notified when advance sales of the A1 start. Also the facebook-fanpage already has more than 20,000 A1-fans. 90 percent of those prospective buyers have never before owned an Audi. Continue Reading →
