The RK Collection Toyota Camry NASCAR Edition makes its public debut at the 2010 SEMA Show. The special two-door Toyota Camry NASCAR Edition was created by RK Collection (RKC) to help Toyota Racing Development (TRD) in visualizing the virtues of the standard Camry and morphing them into a powerful NASCAR counterpart.

The project was the visionary inspiration of Rob Kauffman, founder of RKC and co-owner from the NASCAR team Michael Waltrip Racing. The project was created using the dual purpose of building and managing a high-performance street legal Toyota Camry having a NASCAR engine. In partnership with TRD, RKC brought the idea to life with illustrations along with a technical specs outline, rebuilding this one-of-a-kind high performance street machine. Toyota has significantly revised its popular Highlander and Highlander Hybrid crossover sport utility vehicles for 2011, giving them enhanced styling, additional standard amenities and new user technology.

The 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine, that was available only in the Highlander Base grade model in 2010, is now also offered within the SE, the most popular grade (2WD only). The Highlander Hybrid debuts a far more powerful and advanced 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine, and also a standard Tech Audio Package and unique exterior elements of design.

The 2011 Highlander is available in Base, SE and Limited grades in both two-wheel (2WD) and full-time four-wheel-drive (4WD). A 270-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 is standard about the Limited grade and readily available for others. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) today announced that the all-new 2010 Toyota 4Runner mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) has earned its highest ranking of “good” in their frontal offset high-speed crash ratings.

IIHS frontal crashworthiness evaluations are based on results of 40 mph frontal offset crash tests. A vehicle’s overall frontal evaluation is based on measurements of intrusion into the occupant compartment, driver seat test dummy injury severity, and the level of restraint system dummy movement during the test.  By comparison, frontal crash testing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is performed at 35 mph.

The IIHS is an independent non-profit research and communications organization funded by auto insurance companies.

All Toyota and Lexus models meet or exceed the safety requirements of the federal government and the NHTSA.
